Did anyone sell their pokemon cards when they were worth alot of money?

like when any collector shops would pay top dollar for them, for example i have a holographic 1st edition dark charizard, it is worth 40 dollars now but i kept a beckett pokemon collector and in 2000 when i got the card it was worth 300 dollars, did anyone here cash in and make alot of money when it was still popular
